Modern Languages
Irvine Royal Academy offers pupils the opportunity to study French and Spanish up to Higher level, while developing their reading, writing, talking and listening skills.
In S1 and S2 pupils currently study French for 1 period a week and Spanish for 1 period a week within blocks of 7 weeks. In S3 are encouraged to choose French or Spanish. S3 Modern Language pupils currently study French or Spanish for 3 periods.
Senior Phase pupils have 3 periods of Languages per week.
In addition to French and Spanish we also offer Languages for Life and Work as an elective course. Within this course pupils develop a cultural awareness, language skills for work purposes, in both English and the target language.
