Careers Advice and Guidance at Irvine Royal

Careers advice has changed a lot over the years. It’s no longer just about matching people to jobs or leafing through endless prospectuses. Today, we take a modern, personalised approach to preparing young people for their future.

What We Do

As part of the Skills Development Scotland (SDS) service offer, our goal is to help pupils develop Career Management Skills – the tools they need to make the right decisions at the right time throughout their working lives.

We focus on four key themes: Self – understanding who you are Strengths – recognising what you’re good at Horizons – exploring what’s out there Networks – building connections

How Pupils Will Work With Me

· Group sessions usually during PSE classes

· One-to-one appointments throughout BGE and Senior Phase – led by the pupil and focused on what matters most to them

Our Aim

By the time pupils leave Irvine Royal, they’ll feel prepared for their next step – whether that’s college, university, an apprenticeship, or a job. And support doesn’t stop there: careers advisers are available for as long as young people need us.
