History of School

The present Irvine Royal Academy was formed in 1992 when the old Irvine Royal Academy was merged with Ravenspark Academy.

In August 1992, still in three buildings, the two academies were amalgamated into Irvine Royal Academy and the following year the 'old school ' and its annexe were closed. As had originally been intended, the Ravenspark building became Irvine Royal Academy. Robert Reid was appointed Headteacher and the school and its surroundings were refurbished and reorganized. Many historic items are preserved to remind us of the past ………the war memorial, the clock in the library, the boards with the names of the Dux medal winners……….. Irvine Royal Academy pupils have much to be proud of!

The new Irvine Royal Academy was officially opened by Councillor Elliot Gray JP on 22 March 1994.
